Why?

Kids who drink before age 18 are 5 times more likely to have alcohol problems as adults. 

This is a wonderful opportunity for our communities to discuss, learn, brainstorm and take action.

1st Quarterly Meeting

I am hoping to get your input on when we could set up our first quarterly meeting. 

There are a couple of issues we must consider…

1. Darlene will be out of town for quite some time.  When do you get back, Miss Super World Traveler/Volunteer??

2. We currently only have four committee members.  Does anyone have anyone in mind that we might be able to recruit?

 I'm open to your suggestions! :)

Step it Up Coalition Meeting

For those of you who are interested, the next Step it Up Coalition Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday May 9th from 4:00-5:30pm at La Plata Electric Association.

 The Step it Up Prevention Policy Coalition for Positive Youth Development and Prevention of Problem Behaviors serves La Plata county by strengthening the health of our communities through education, research and the promotion of alternatives to substance use and abuse.

Proposed Agenda

1. Approval of PPB/Step It Up minutes from Feb.06. 2. Quick second quarter (Jan.1 through March. 31, 2006) Across Ages report from Esther Belin (process/activity, fidelity, outcomes, quality measures, improvement plans based on SWOT).

3. Plans for the May 12 La Plata Co. Summit breakout session on positive youth development.

4. Strategic plan (follow up from item 3 in Feb. minutes) for the Step-It-Up Coalition (will include the PPB).

5. Announcements: May 16 Town Hall Meeting for underage drinking prevention; and youth programs in May.

6. Set meeting dates for committees for summer.

7. Set next full meeting date. What about Aug 29?
